Our Beautiful Bedroom Curtains
Curtains for Every Window
Curtains made from natural fabrics, such as linen or cotton, offer a touch of organic elegance to any living space. Pencil pleat curtains, with their neat and uniform pleats, provide a classic and tailored look. The pleats create an elegant drape and allow for easy adjustment of the curtain fullness. Loop top curtains, on the other hand, offer a more relaxed and contemporary style. The simple channel at the top of each curtain panel makes them easy to hang in a jiffy with no fiddly hooks required.
Both styles will provide warmth and texture to your space, whether you prefer the timeless sophistication of pencil pleat curtains or the casual charm of loop tops.
When choosing your curtains, it's important to measure the width and length of your windows accurately. For width, curtains should typically be 1.5 to 2 times the width of the window for a full and luxurious look. Then you'll need to choose a length that gives you the look you're going for. The majority of our curtains are long but do you want them to hang just above the floor, or pool on the floor a little (this is particularly effective with a sheer linen curtain)? Read here for more instructions about how to measure up for your new curtains.
All the curtains at Secret Linen Store are easy to care for. Most can be washed in your machine at home, in the same way that you'd wash your bed linen, although the cleaning of the blackout curtains is best left to the professionals to make sure that the lining isn't compromised. Please read here for more information about taking care of your lovely new curtains.
The choice of curtain style and colour depends on the overall aesthetic and function of the room. Consider the existing decor, desired level of privacy, and amount of natural light you want to let in. Sheer or light-coloured curtains can create an airy and open feel, while darker or lined curtains can add drama and cosiness. Read here for more help with choosing curtains for your home.
Light coloured curtains are perfect for rooms that get a lot of direct sunlight as they're less prone to fading from the sun and they will also help keep a room feel light and airy. Light curtains will also help bounce the sun's rays away to keep your room cool in the summer. Dark curtains can be a great choice for a bedroom, especially with a blackout lining, to keep your bedroom cosy and conducive to a good night's sleep. Ultimately, whether to go light or dark is a personal preference and you might find you want to switch your curtains out half way through the year for the best of both worlds.
