If you love the look of natural light filtering through fabric, creating a warm and welcoming glow, our collection of unlined curtains is the perfect choice. Unlike blackout curtains, which block the sun, or fully lined curtains, which add weight and insulation, unlined curtains are all about celebrating the fabric itself.

Without a lining to hide it, the sun shines through the weave, highlighting the beautiful natural texture of our 100% linen curtains and the crisp quality of our cotton curtains. They feel lighter, breezier, and less formal, making them ideal for living rooms, kitchens, or any space where you want to maximise daylight while maintaining privacy.

For an even lighter option that is almost transparent, you might also want to peek at our sheer curtains.

The Beauty of the Natural Weave

We offer unlined options because we believe the natural slubs and imperfections in flax and cotton yarns are something to be admired, not hidden. When the light hits an unlined curtain, these textures come to life, adding depth and character to your windows that you simply don't get with heavier drapes.

All our ready-made designs come with a classic loop-top header, offering a beautifully laid-back look. If you are looking to create a relaxed, airy atmosphere in your home, this collection is the place to start.

If you need a hand deciding between the different fabric weights or linings, our curtain buying guide breaks down all the details.

Unlined Curtain FAQs

Unlined curtains are fantastic for keeping a room feeling bright and airy. They offer privacy from the outside world without stealing all your natural light. They also tend to drape with a lighter, more casual feel than lined options. If you are still weighing up the pros and cons, our guide on which curtains are best for you is very helpful.

Unlined curtains are perfect for rooms where you want a lighter, airier look. Think kitchens, living rooms, or anywhere you’re happy to let the light shine through. They’re also brilliant layered with blinds or behind thicker curtains if you want that soft, layered, luxurious look (yes, please).

For bedrooms or spaces where you need a bit more darkness or insulation, lined or blackout curtains might be a better fit. But for soft style and effortless charm? Unlined curtains are hard to beat.

Whether you’ve gone for loop tops or pencil pleats, it’s all about popping up your curtain pole or track, then hanging them just like you would any other curtain. Loop tops slide straight onto the pole – no hooks, no fuss. Pencil pleats just need to be gathered and hooked on, and they’re ready to hang beautifully.

Because unlined curtains are lighter, they’re easier to handle too – so you might not even need a second pair of hands (but a pal and a cup of tea never hurt).

Need a bit more guidance? Our curtain-hanging guide is packed with tips to make it all feel like a breeze.

Accurate measuring is the secret to curtains that hang beautifully. Measure the width of your curtain pole or track (not the window glass) and decide where you want the curtains to end. We have a full explanation on our curtains advice page.

They provide a good level of privacy, blurring the view into your home. However, because they don't have a thick lining, silhouettes might be visible from the outside when you have your lights on at night. If total privacy is a must, you might prefer to layer them or look at our heavier curtains collection.

Because there is only one layer of fabric, you don't have to worry about the lining shrinking at a different rate than the face fabric. However, natural fibres still need care. Please always check the specific washing instructions on the label.
