We are Molly and Harriet, number one and number three, in a line of four sisters.

We lived in a mad house... 4 girls, 2 guinea pigs, 4 cats, about 87 different fish over the years, a tortoise, a horse, and our parents. It was brilliant.

We grew up and worked hard, becoming a Textiles Designer (Molly) and a Marketing Manager (Harriet). We gained a combined 30 years of experience in bedroom high street retail, working with some of the most famous and respected brands. We’ve seen the highs and the lows of retailing, and have travelled the world to find the best products. Most importantly, we have been making beautiful bedding for many years, and we know what's what when it comes to comfort and quality.

During our careers we have worked together, starting as waitresses in our local restaurant when Harriet was only 14, then apart, then together again, which feels just right. We had always planned and dreamed of doing something of our own, knowing that we wanted to do things a little differently.

In March 2013, over a cup of coffee, and some enthusiastic encouragement, Secret Linen Store was born. And here we are… beautiful bed linen and top quality luxury bedding at fair and honest prices. We have worked as suppliers and retailers, so we knew we wanted to create a brand that is honest and transparent, benefiting both our customers, the factories we work with, with as little negative impact on the planet as we can.

Bespoke Design

Molly designs everything in house and love textiles. We never compromise on quality and visit our European factories frequently to make sure you have great value, all year round. We love bedtimes, and sliding into top quality cotton or linen bedding (Especially after a fresh wash) is one of life's small pleasures. We want you to get that same feeling we do, night after night.

We have found the best factories in Portugal and the UK, enabling us to offer beautiful, well-made bedding, curtains, and home accessories. We focus on quality, not price and source our products from the best makers in the world.

In 2023 we became B Corp certified, which was the cushions on top of our very comfy bed. The process to become certified questions every part of our business, and looks in detail at how we, as a business, puts people and purpose first. B Corp is entirely voluntary, which means we wear the badge with a lot of pride and a score of 113 points which makes us a good example to others and makes our Secret Linen Store a great place to work.

Harriet Mears – Co-Founder & Managing Director

Harriet Mears is Co-Founder and Managing Director of Secret Linen Store, the family-run brand she launched with her sister in 2013. With a background in marketing and a natural flair for organisation, Harriet brings the structure and clear thinking that help turn good ideas into brilliant realities. Together with Molly, she set out to make buying beautiful bed linen simpler, more honest and a lot more joyful. Harriet leads the business day-to-day, with a focus on building a thoughtful, customer-first brand that feels as good as the bedding itself.

Molly Freshwater – Co-Founder & Creative Director

Molly Freshwater is Co-Founder and Creative Director of Secret Linen Store, where she leads on design and all things fabric. With over 25 years in the textile industry, Molly has a deep love for materials, colour and the little details that make slipping into bed feel like a treat. She started the business with her sister Harriet after years of creating bed linen for others, with a simple idea: to do it better, more beautifully and more honestly. Molly’s creativity and passion for great design are at the heart of everything the brand creates.

Our Growing Secret Linen Family

From the two of us to a team of 35 bedmakers, Harriet’s husband, our brother in law and a mother and daughter duo, we have created quite the Secret Linen Store family. Located on the sunny south coast, our small team are a credit to us, and we couldn’t do it all without them.
