Sourcing Our Products

At the Secret Linen Store, our journey to sourcing exceptional products started way before the business was born.

Over many years working in the textile industry, all over the world, our fabric-covered road led us to Portugal, a country known for its colourful culture, picturesque landscapes, pastel de nata and, most importantly, its unmatched fantastic textile heritage. We started working over 20 years ago in the north of Portugal with the same factories we work with today. And we are very fond of them.

Portugal charmed us, the people, the food, the climate and the skill to make great bedlinen. From day one, or even before that, there was no question as to where our fabulous fabrics would come from.

To accompany our Portuguese-made textiles, we chose to make all of our down, feather and synthetic filled bedding to order in Scotland. This is not just about sustainability (making to order avoids waste and unwanted products going to landfill); it's also about supporting local craftsmanship. By partnering with skilled artisans and manufacturers in Scotland, we contribute to the local economy and preserve traditional textile expertise.

When we added wool to our range, we hunted high and low, through many fields and factories, for the most sustainable wool-filled bedding.  There were happy dances all round when we found a fabulous company based in Yorkshire that uses only the finest and most carefully-sourced materials.  We use the very best 100% traceable British wool which is a by-product of the annual shearing of sheep farmed across the very north of Scotland.  These woolly wonders are then encased in organic 100% cotton, spun in Germany.

Our journey wouldn't be complete without these extraordinary suppliers, the stars of our sourcing show. They are the true heroes behind the scenes, crafting the bedding and linens that bring comfort and colour to our customers' bedtimes. We sought out suppliers who shared our values, impeccable standards, and love for all things cosy.

We believe that you can feel that in our products and we are 100% sure that these very factory relationships are what make us who we are today.

It’s important to us that ethics are not just a box to tick. We choose suppliers who embrace fair labour practices, prioritise safe working conditions, and pay fair wages. It's about treating every person involved in the process with respect and kindness, ensuring that our products are not only extraordinary but also ethically made.

Comfort and style goes hand in hand with sustainability at the Secret Linen Store. We select suppliers who hold an Oeko-tex standard 100 certification to ensure eco-friendly practices, water and energy conservation, waste reduction, and responsible chemical usage.

Molly heads up a delightful team of factory friends, who spend their days working very closely with our suppliers, with respect, clear communication and a smile. Making our products come to life is a joy for all involved.

There are many different thread counts, qualities, colours and sizes to choose from at the Secret Linen Store. One thing you can be sure of is that each and every one of them has been sourced with love, care and attention to detail and its environmental impact.
