King Size Duvet FAQs

What size is a king size duvet?

A UK  king size duvet measures 225 x 220cm. This size is perfectly suited to a standard UK king size bed, providing comfy coverage and a generous drape on either side.

For more information on duvet sizings, read our handy Size Guide.

What tog duvet is best for a king sized duvet?

The ideal tog rating for your king size duvet depends on several factors: how warm you sleep, your room's temperature, and the season.

A quick guide:

  • Choose 2.5-4.5 tog for the summer months for a light, breathable duvet.
  • For the in-between seasons, consider 7.5-10.5 togs.
  • During winter, we recommend 13.5-15 tog for a warm, snug night's sleep.

To learn more about which duvet tog ratings to use for each season, read our Duvet Tog Guide.

Can I use a king size duvet on a double bed?

The ideal duvet is larger than your bed. You can absolutely use a king size duvet for a double bed. Some people prefer this for extra drape or if they share their bed with a duvet-hogging partner.

How to care for a king size duvet

A king size duvet will be too large to clean at home, so we recommend taking it to a laundrette to use their large-capacity machines. This gives the duvet plenty of room to move and get properly clean. Ensure it’s dried thoroughly before using it again.

For minor cleaning jobs, like if you spill a cuppa on your duvet, it’s best to spot-clean the patch with a damp cloth and some warm, soapy water rather than washing the whole thing. Make sure the area is thoroughly dry by using the cool setting on a hair dryer.
