Summer Duvet FAQs

For the coolest, most comfy sleep, we recommend pairing your summer duvet with 100% cotton or 100% linen. These natural materials are breathable, moisture-wicking, and do a brilliant job of keeping you cool and relaxed on summer evenings - meaning you can sleep soundly even on the stuffiest nights.

To style your new summer duvet, why not explore our lightweight cotton blankets and decorative cushions? To discover more ways to layer your summer bedding without getting too hot, read our seasonal bed layering guide.

No one wants their feet popping out of the cover, even in the summer. Picking the right duvet is important for a comfy night’s sleep.  We’ve put together a handy size guide to help you find your perfect summer duvet and keep you feeling snug.

Our feather and down duvets and synthetic alternatives can all be washed on a gentle 40 degrees cycle, meaning you can freshen up your summer duvet in a jiffy. Make sure it’s thoroughly dry before popping it back on your bed. Larger duvet sizes, such as super king and emperor, may be too big to wash at home, so we recommend taking them to your local laundrette to use their large-capacity machines.

For minor cleaning jobs, like if you spill a cuppa on your duvet, it’s best to spot-clean the patch with a damp cloth and some warm, soapy water rather than washing the whole thing. Make sure you dry the area thoroughly before using it again by letting it dry naturally outside or using the cool setting on a hairdryer.

For more cleaning and care tips, read our Duvets, Pillows and Toppers Care Guide.

Our summer duvets are breathable, lightweight and airy to help you sleep easily through summer. Our duvets regulate your temperature, allowing you to enjoy the comfort and bliss of a high-quality duvet without getting too warm on the stuffier nights.

Sleeping in the heat can be tricky, but our tips can help.

Aside from switching to one of our summer duvets, you should also make sure that you’re sleeping in breathable bedding like linen and cotton. You can also:

  • Keep your curtains closed during the day to keep the heat out.
  • Wear lightweight sleepwear in breathable materials.
  • For those extra hot nights, a cold compress can help.

Our summer sleep guide has even more nuggets of wisdom when it comes to getting forty winks on warmer nights.

What is the best summer duvet?

There are plenty of fabulous filling options when it comes to lightweight summer duvets.

Down duvets, including goose down and duck down, are wonderfully breathable as air flows freely between the downy fibres. Or, if you prefer, we offer synthetic alternatives. Our hollowfibre duvets have, you guessed it, hollow fibres for amazing air circulation.

We also have microfibre duvets which use super smart cooling technology. Our Keep Me Cool duvet has Climarelle® Cool technology, with microcapsules that have both cooling and warming abilities.

What tog is best for a summer duvet?

Tog stands for thermal overall grade, and it’s a measure of how toasty and snug your duvet is. That means a lower tog is best for summer.

A 4.5 tog should be just right for most summer nights, but if you’re a particularly hot sleeper, a 2.5 tog duvet could be your ticket to a cool snooze.

Our duvet tog guide can explain further, so you can choose the absolute best duvet for every season.

When temperatures start to rise, it’s time to switch to a lower tog duvet. Summer duvets are usually 2.5 or 4.5 tog. Duvets in this tog range are lightweight, breathable, and regulate your body temperature, helping you sleep comfortably on warmer nights.

To learn more about which duvet tog ratings to use for each season, read our Duvet Tog Guide.

Sleeping in the heat can be uncomfortable, but our simple tips for getting a good night’s sleep in summer can help.

Your bed linen can have a surprising impact on temperature regulation. During the summer months, consider pairing your duvet with a linen or cotton bedding set.

We also recommend that you:

  • Keep your curtains closed during the day to help keep the heat out.
  • Wear lightweight and breathable sleepwear.
  • Use a cold compress on nights that are extra hot and stuffy.
