Give Your Bed Linen a Second Life

We’re working to reduce textile waste, lower our environmental footprint and support more circular ways to make and use textiles. We have developed an End-of-Life Policy which focuses on how we design for durability, provide care guidance, offer repair, encourage repurposing and guide responsible end of use, so our products are handled responsibly from first use to last.

Caring

To keep your product feeling fresh every time, we recommend using the right stuff when washing.

Our friends at Wilton London provide, in our opinion, the best-smelling products - and that's just the beginning. Their range is free from harmful ingredients, using naturally derived alternatives instead. Additionally, their plant-based ingredients protect colours and repair natural fibres.

As a fellow BCorp, they share our commitment to using business as a force for good.

What to Do when it’s time to say goodbye:

Item Condition Action
Small fault Repair at home or use our repair service
Good wear Donate to charities or animal shelters
Too worn Use textile banks or council services

Repair & Repurpose

We want to give our customers the chance to repair any wear or tears that happen after many years of good night’s sleep, ensuring we are extending the life of all products.

We partnered with The Seam in 2025 to make repairs, alterations and upcycling easy.

  • Connect with skilled local Makers
  • Send items for repairs, alterations or upcycling
  • Get your favourite products back, ready to enjoy again

Why not give that much-loved 100% linen sheet a new lease of life as napkins? Moved house and found your favourite curtains no longer fit?

No worries - The Seam can work their magic to tailor them perfectly for your new space.

Donation

Give your linen a new home by donating it.

Most charities accept:

  • Duvet covers
  • Pillowcases
  • Sheets
  • Blankets & throws
  • Duvets – some animal shelters accept duvet donations

Before you donate:

  • Wash and dry thoroughly
  • Fold neatly

Where to donate:

  • Charity shops (e.g. British Heart Foundation, Oxfam)
  • Homeless shelters (e.g. Shelter, St Mungo’s)
  • Animal rescue centres (e.g. RSPCA, Dogs Trust)

Note: Please always check with the charities first.

Recycling

If your bed linen is too worn to reuse:

  • Use textile banks at supermarkets or car parks
  • Take to Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs)
  • Check council kerbside textile collections

Note: Most banks do not accept duvets or pillows, but do take sheets, covers and pillowcases. Secret Linen will continue to look for alternative solutions for customers to recycle their end-of-life duvets and pillows.

Life After Bedquarters

Sometimes things don’t quite go to plan, and faults happen.

When that’s the case, not every product can be repaired or repurposed. For any faulty bedding that makes its way back to our Bedquarters, we work with our friends at Bright Secure Recycling. They carefully shred the fabrics and transform the fibres into cosy filling for dog beds - nothing wasted, everything loved.

If a product isn’t perfect enough to sell but is still very much usable, we donate it to our wonderful charity partner, Goods for Good. Their mission is both simple and powerful: to get essential items like bedding, clothing, blankets, medicines and hygiene products to people who need them most - communities facing poverty, disaster, or displacement.

In other words, what we can no longer use here gets a brand-new life where it’s truly needed. Our ‘trash’ really can become someone else’s treasure - and that makes us very grateful indeed.
