Responsible Sourcing

We believe business can be a force for good and part of that is our relationships with our suppliers. Something we are very, very proud of indeed. Our factories are a big part of our family. We have over 25 years of shared stories and craftsmanship.

Where we source from

All products Manufactured in Europe & UK, with 71% of our factories based in Portugal.

Our Supplier Code of Conduct to establishes the standards we require, drawing from the ETI Base Code and ILO conventions. The International Labour Organization (ILO) is a United Nations agency that sets international labour standards to promote decent work conditions, social justice, and workers' rights worldwide. The Ethical Trade Initiative (ETI) Base Code is a set of labour standards designed to promote fair working conditions, based on internationally recognised standards like those from the ILO.

Our code of conduct additionally outlines our environmental criteria and ensures suppliers are in line with our brand's values.

To ensure compliance to the standards, we request all suppliers to undertake a third-party ethical audit. These audits involve on-site evaluations aligned with the Sedex Membership Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA). Additionally, we conduct regular visits to assess conditions and production capacities, including Tier 2 sites such as mills, dye houses and print facilities.

In 2026 we will continue to focus on supporting our suppliers in meeting our environmental requirements and goals.

We aim to collaborate closely, looking at working practices and opportunities for improvements. With an overall shared goal to reduce waste, water & energy usage.

Our factories are already committed to reducing their impact, incorporating initiatives such as solar panel installations for electricity generation and rainwater utilisation in industrial processes like steam production.

Our Suppliers

At our Secret Linen Store, our journey to sourcing exceptional products started way before the business was born.

Over many years working in the textile industry, all over the world, our fabric-covered road led us to Portugal, a country known for its colourful culture, picturesque landscapes, pastel de nata and, most importantly, its unmatched fantastic textile heritage. We started working over 20 years ago in the north of Portugal with the same factories we work with today. We are very fond of them.

Portugal charmed us, the people, the food, the climate and the skill to make great bed linen. From day one, or even before that, there was no question as to where our fabulous fabrics would come from.

To accompany our Portuguese-made textiles, we chose to make all our down, feather and synthetic filled bedding in Scotland & our wool bedding products in Yorkshire.

Our Scottish friends make the bedding products to order, avoiding waste and unwanted products going to landfill, helping to reduce our impact. We feel proud to source within the UK and supporting local craftsmanship. Partnering with skilled artisans and manufacturers in Scotland, we contribute to the local economy and preserve traditional textile expertise.

When we added wool to our range, we hunted high and low, through many fields and factories, for responsibly sourced wool-filled bedding. There were happy dances all round when we found a fabulous company based in Yorkshire that uses only the finest and most carefully sourced 100% British wool.

Our journey wouldn't be complete without these extraordinary suppliers, the stars of our sourcing show. They are the true heroes behind the scenes, crafting the bedding and linens that bring comfort and colour to our customers' bedtimes. We sought out suppliers who shared our values, impeccable standards, and love for all things cosy.

We believe that you can feel that in our products, and we are 100% sure that these factory relationships make us who we are today.
