Synthetic Bedding FAQs

What are the different types of synthetic fillings?

Our synthetic bedding range is made up of two snug options:

  • Our microfibre bedding is made from ultra-fine fibres that mimic the plush loft of down. It’s lightweight, brilliantly insulating, and easy to care for.
  • Our hollowfibre bedding is made from siliconised polyester ball fibres that form tiny clusters. Each strand has a little air-filled channel that helps trap warmth, while the duvet's hollow core lets air circulate, leaving you cool in summer and snug in winter.

To learn more about our brilliant synthetic bedding and our other wonderful fillings, read our fillings guide.

Does synthetic bedding feel different to natural bedding?

All of our synthetic fillings are chosen for their premium, down-like feel.

With clever fibres that brilliantly mimic the softness and warmth of natural down, our synthetic bedding is snug, soft, and easy to care for, making it perfect if you’re looking for something that feels luxurious, all at a budget-friendly price.

How long does synthetic bedding last?

We’re tucked up in bed for almost 3,000 hours a year, so it’s safe to say that our pillows, duvets, and bed linen are getting a lot of love.

At Secret Linen Store, we believe that life is too short to sleep in a bed you don't absolutely love. A high-quality duvet can last 5 to 10 years, while a pillow usually needs refreshing every couple of years (but if yours is looking or feeling a little past its best, it’s probably time to treat yourself to something new.)

Not sure if your bedding needs a complete refresh? Our guide on when to replace your bedding explains all the need-to-know information.

How do I care for synthetic bedding?

Synthetic bedding is generally very easy to clean. Depending on the size of your bedding, you can wash it at home in your domestic washing machine if you need to.

To make sure your washing machine is large enough to wash your bedding, leave enough room for your items to move freely. Aim to fill the drum no more than halfway; any more could damage your bedding or prevent the detergent from circulating properly, leaving your bed musty-smelling.
