The main difference lies in the weave and the feel. Our 200 thread count is a crisp percale, while our 300 thread count is a silky sateen. A simple analogy: if percale is like a classic, crisp cotton shirt, then sateen is like a soft silk blouse. The sateen feels smoother, drapes more closely to the body, and has an elegant sheen.

Sateen is a type of weave where more threads are placed on the surface of the fabric (typically a four-over, one-under structure). This is what creates its smooth, buttery-soft feel and a beautiful, subtle lustre. It's woven more tightly than percale, which gives it a slightly warmer and cosier feel against the skin.

To protect the beautiful, smooth surface of your sateen bedding, we recommend washing it on a cool 30 or 40-degree cycle. Turning the duvet cover and pillowcases inside out before washing can help protect the fibres from abrasion in the drum. Line-drying is great, or tumble dry on a low setting.
