100% Linen Valance FAQs

Why use a linen valance?

A valance is a little bit like the shoes to your outfit; it completes the look. A linen valance is perfect for hiding a tired-looking divan base or concealing boxes and clutter stored under the bed. Beyond the practicalities, it adds a skirt of soft, rippled texture that softens the hard lines of a bed frame.

It’s an essential element for creating a calm bedroom.

How do I style a linen valance?

We love a texture clash at the Secret Linen Store so here are some of our top style tips:

  • Match your valance to your linen pillowcases for a floor-to-ceiling wash of colour.
  • Pair a dark charcoal valance with crisp white linen sheets to ground the room and make the white pop.
  • Use a linen valance with a cotton duvet cover to introduce just a hint of rustic charm without committing to a full linen bed.
How do I care for my linen valance?

Just like our sheets, our valances are easy to care for. You can pop them in the machine at 40°C with a mild detergent. Because they hang down, they don't need washing as often as your sheets (a win for the laundry pile). We think the natural drape looks best without ironing, but if you want a sharper pleat, you can give it a press while damp.

What drop do your valances have?

Our valances are designed to fit most standard bed bases. It’s always best to measure from. See the full value of linen bedding in our blog: The Code to Expensive Bedding
