Finding Your Perfect Fabric and Feel

If you love a light, airy aesthetic, our unlined and sheer options allow natural daylight to glow through the fabric, highlighting the beautiful slubs and textures of the yarn.

For those who need to shut out the world, whether for a Sunday lie-in or a movie night, our blackout options are brilliant. If you are torn between the two, our fully lined curtains offer a happy medium, protecting the face fabric from the sun while adding a little extra weight and insulation.

We know buying curtains can feel a little daunting, which is why we have created our curtain buying guide to walk you through everything from measuring up to choosing the right header.

Curtains FAQs

How do I choose the right curtains for my room?

It depends on what you need the room to be used for. If it is a bedroom, prioritising sleep with blackout curtains is usually best. For living areas or kitchens, you might prefer the breeziness of linen curtains or unlined styles.

If you are struggling to decide, our guide on which curtains are best for you breaks down the benefits of each style.

How do I measure for ready-made curtains?

We recommend measuring the width of your pole or track (not the window itself) and deciding where you want the hem to fall.

For a step-by-step walkthrough, visit our curtains advice page.

How do I hang pencil pleat curtains?

Pencil pleats provide a lovely, gathered look that allows for easy adjustment to fit your window perfectly. It takes a little patience to get the cords right, but the result is worth it.

We have a handy guide on how to hang curtains to help you get that professional finish.

Can I wash my curtains?

Many of our curtains can be washed at home, but it is vital to check the specific care label on your chosen pair, as some linings require different treatment to prevent shrinkage.

You can find all our top tips for keeping them fresh in our caring for curtains guide.

Curtain FAQs

‘Curtains are never in or out of style. Like fashion, interiors go through cycles - but good design is always about what feels right in a space, not just what’s in fashion. Some styles of curtains might come and go, but curtains themselves? They’re timeless. It’s all about choosing the right curtain for the right room.’

- Molly Freshwater, Co-Founder

Curtains do all sorts of wonderful things. They keep the light out, give you a bit of privacy, help you snooze in peace, and add a splash of colour and texture to your lovely space.

Hanging them might seem a bit fiddly, but don’t worry, we’ve put together a simple, step-by-step curtain hanging guide to help you get that just-right drape without any drama. Curtain bliss, right this way...

All of our lovely curtains are a doddle to care for. Most can go straight into your washing machine at home, just like your bed linen. Easy peasy. The only ones that like a little extra TLC are our blackout curtains. They’re best left to the pros, just to keep that clever lining working its magic.

Pop over to our curtain care guide for all the nitty-gritty on keeping your new curtains looking their best.

Getting your curtain measurements spot on can be tricky. But don’t worry, it’s not as hard as it sounds.

For the width, a good rule of thumb is to go for curtains that are about 1.5 to 2 times the width of your window. That way, you’ll get that lovely, full look we all adore. Then there’s the length… Do you fancy your curtains just skimming the floor, or puddling dreamily at the bottom (sheer linen looks especially swoon-worthy when it does that)?

We’ve got heaps of helpful advice on measuring to help you get it right.

The choice of curtain style and colour depends on the overall aesthetic and function of the room. Consider the existing decor, desired level of privacy, and amount of natural light you want to let in. Sheer or light-coloured curtains can create an airy and open feel, while darker or lined curtains can add drama and cosiness.

Regarding curtain styles, we offer pencil pleats and loop tops, which add a different touch to your home’s interior.

  • Pencil pleat curtains provide a classic and tailored look with neat and uniform pleats. The pleats create an elegant drape and allow easy adjustment of the curtain's fullness.
  • Loop top curtains, on the other hand, offer a more relaxed and contemporary style. The simple channel at the top of each curtain panel makes them easy to hang in a jiffy with no fiddly hooks required.

Both styles will provide warmth and texture to your space, whether you prefer the timeless sophistication of pencil pleat curtains or the casual charm of loop tops.

Read our blog to help you decide which curtains are best for you.

When choosing your curtains, measuring the width and length of your windows accurately is important.

For width, curtains should typically be 1.5 to 2 times the window's width for a full and luxurious look. Then, you'll need to choose a length that gives you the desired look.

Most of our curtains are long, but do you want them to hang just above the floor or pool on the floor a little (this is particularly effective with a sheer linen curtain)? Discover an abundance of curtain advice, handy hanging tips and instructions about measuring up for your new curtains here.

Light-coloured curtains are perfect for rooms that get a lot of direct sunlight as they're less prone to fading from the sun and will also help keep a room feeling light and airy. Light curtains will also help bounce the sun's rays away to keep your room cool in the summer.

Dark curtains can be a great choice for a bedroom, especially with a blackout lining, to keep your bedroom cosy and conducive to a good night's sleep. Ultimately, whether to go light or dark is a personal preference, and you might want to switch your curtains out halfway through the year for the best of both worlds.
