Almond 100% Linen

Is your bedding considered part of your skincare routine?

We spend a huge amount of time and money on our skincare routines. We scrub, we cleanse, we moisturise, and we try our very best to drink our two litres of water a day. But have you ever stopped to think about what happens for the eight hours after you close your eyes?

We spend a third of our lives in bed, if we’re lucky, yet so many of us are sleeping wrapped in synthetic, plastic-based fabrics without a second thought. That's why it’s time to check the label on your bedding and discover why natural fabrics, like our 100% linen bedding, are the ultimate skincare hack you didn’t know you needed.

What is Clean Sleeping?

Don't worry, clean sleeping isn't about a strict routine or waking up at 4 am for an ice bath (we value our lie-ins far too much for that). It’s simply about choosing materials that are kind to your skin and safe for your sleep environment.

Just like you might choose organic veggies or clean beauty products, choosing natural bedding means saying goodbye to trapped heat and sweaty synthetics, and hello to gorgeous natural fabrics that actually let your skin breathe.

Why Your Skin Hates Synthetics

Let’s get a little bit science-y, but we promise to keep it simple. Synthetic fabrics like polyester are essentially made from plastic. While they might feel soft in the shop, sleeping under them can be a bit like sleeping in a plastic bag.

Synthetics trap heat and moisture against your skin. This creates a warm, damp environment that is a bit of a playground for bacteria, and for our friends with sensitive skin or acne, this is a nightmare. It can lead to:

  • Blocked pores

  • Overheating and those dreaded night sweats

  • Skin irritation and prickly heat

Why We Are Obsessed with Natural Fibres

This is where the magic of natural fabrics comes in. Whether it’s 100% linen or cool cotton, natural fibres are the superfoods of the bedroom.

1. Linen Bedding Lets Your Skin Breathe

Linen is naturally permeable and moisture-wicking. It pulls sweat away from your skin and allows it to evaporate, keeping you dry and comfortable. If you’re prone to breakouts, swapping to a linen pillowcase is one of the easiest and comfiest beauty swaps you can make.

2. They Are Naturally Hypoallergenic

Our linen is Masters of FLAX FIBRE™ certified, meaning it’s grown in Western Europe without heavy irrigation or GMOs. It’s naturally resistant to dust mites and bacteria, making it the kindest choice for anyone with allergies or eczema.

3. No Nasties Required

Because natural fabrics look beautiful in their own right, they don't need to be chemically treated to feel soft. Our linen bedding has a laundered finish that feels incredible from day one, no synthetic softeners needed.

The Cost of Natural Bedding

We know what you’re thinking: "But natural linen is an investment"

Here is where the Girl Math comes in. A polyester set might be cheaper upfront, but it might need replacing in a year when it goes bobbly or grey. High-quality linen duvet covers are incredibly durable and actually get better with age.

If you sleep in it every night for 5 years, the "cost per sleep" is pennies. Plus, can you really put a price on glowing skin and a sweat-free night? We think not.

A Little More on Clean Sleeping

Is linen better for acne than silk?

Silk often gets all the glory for skincare, but linen is a hidden gem. While silk is smooth and great for stopping wrinkles, linen is ultra-absorbent and antimicrobial.

If your breakouts are caused by sweat or bacteria, a fresh linen pillowcase can help keep your face cool and dry all night.

I have eczema: what bedding should I choose?

We always recommend 100% natural fibres. White linen sheets are a fantastic choice because they are dye-free (if you choose optical white or natural) and allow air to circulate, helping prevent the itchiness that comes from overheating.

Does clean sleeping mean I have to wash my sheets every day?

Definitely not, who has time for that? Because linen stays fresher for longer than synthetics, a weekly wash at 40°C is perfect.
