Fabric Noticeboard

Tired of sticky notes and random bits of paper cluttering your desk? This simple noticeboard is a practical and beautiful solution. It’s the perfect way to use a favourite fabric remnant or even an old  pillowcase  that you can’t bear to part with.

 What You'll Need:

  • A plain cork noticeboard (any size will do)

  • A piece of fabric about 4 inches larger than your board on all sides (our  100% Linen Bedding  fabric has a wonderful texture for this)

  • A staple gun

  • Scissors

Your first step is all about preparation. Lay your chosen fabric flat on the floor, pattern-side down, and give it a good iron to make sure it’s completely smooth before placing the corkboard face down onto the centre.

Now for the fun part, the stapling. The trick is to work from the middle outwards to get a beautifully smooth finish. Pull the fabric taut over one edge and fire a staple into the back.

Repeat this on the opposite side, pulling firmly, before doing the same for the other two sides. Continue adding staples, working from the centre towards the corners, until the fabric is secure.

The corners are the final flourish; think of it like wrapping a present. Fold them as neatly as possible, pulling the fabric taut and securing it with a few staples before trimming any excess from the back.

Our Secret Styling Tip

This is a perfect addition to a home office or a bedroom corner. Use it to pin inspiring quotes, postcards, or treasured photos. It looks gorgeous styled above a desk with some stationary and a pot plant.

DIY Botanical Wall Art

Bringing the outdoors in is one of our favourite ways to make a room feel calm.. This DIY home craft idea is a cost-effective way to create wall art that looks like it’s come straight from an interiors shop.

 What You'll Need:

  • Picture frames (scour charity shops for interesting shapes and sizes)

  • Good quality white or off-white card

  • Pressed flowers and leaves

  • A small paintbrush and craft glue (like PVA)

The magic of this project begins a few weeks before you start crafting, with pressing your plants. Simply place your chosen flowers or leaves between two sheets of parchment paper and press them inside a heavy book, leaving them for two or three weeks until they are completely flat and dry.

Once your botanicals are ready, you can begin the creative part. Cut your card to fit your frames and arrange your pressed foliage on top, playing with the layout until you’re happy. Then, using a small brush, apply a tiny amount of glue to the back of each botanical and gently press it onto the card. Once everything is completely dry, you can place your masterpiece in its frame.

Our Secret Styling Tip

Create a stunning gallery wall by grouping three, five, or even seven frames of different sizes together. This looks particularly beautiful above a bed..

Simple No-Sew Lavender Sachets

This has to be one of the easiest and most rewarding simple crafting ideas going. These little sachets are perfect for using up the smallest fabric scraps, and they make your drawers and wardrobe smell divine.

 What You'll Need:

  • Small fabric scraps (about 5x10 inches per sachet)

  • Pinking shears (these create a lovely non-fray edge)

  • Dried lavender

  • Ribbon or twine

The whole process takes just a few minutes. First, use your pinking shears to cut your fabric into neat rectangles. Then, simply fold each rectangle in half to create a little pocket and spoon in a generous amount of that gorgeous dried lavender.

To finish, gather the top of the fabric tightly and secure it with a beautiful bow using your ribbon or twine. Give it a gentle squish to release the calming scent, and you're done. It’s a wonderfully simple craft that’s perfect for a quiet afternoon.

 Our Secret Styling Tip

These are a game-changer for linen cupboards. You can also tuck one inside your  pillowcase  or  duvet cover  to help you drift off to sleep, or hang one on a wardrobe handle. They make for a wonderfully thoughtful handmade gift, too.
