Winter Bedding FAQs

How often should you change bed sheets in winter

Bed sheet changing rules stay pretty much the same year-round, and you should refresh every one or two weeks. In the heat of summer, you might want to be strict about weekly sheet changing, while in winter, you might relax to two, but generally, you shouldn’t let it go much longer between changes.

What is a winter tog duvet?

To understand what a winter tog duvet is, it’s best to first understand what ‘tog’ actually means. Tog stands for ‘thermal overall grade’, which is basically a snugness rating for your duvet.

A 13.5 tog duvet is usually our winter go-to, as it’s much toastier than the summery 4.5 tog or autumnal 9 tog. However, if you really feel the chill, a 15 tog duvet is bound to warm you right up.

Our duvet tog guide can give you a more detailed explanation if you need it.

How to sleep well in winter

It can be hard to sleep in winter, thanks to the biting cold and howling winds. But, with the right sleep tips, you can absolutely achieve the rest your body needs.

When choosing winter bedding, picking an insulating fabric is a top priority. Linen, hemp and cotton fibres are all perfect for this, as they trap heat in little pockets.

Another way to warm up and settle down is with a cup of herbal tea. Peppermint and chamomile are two of our favourites, and our Sip, Unwind, Sleep guide can help you to pick the most calming ingredients for your bedtime beverage.

How do I choose the right duvet cover?

Start by thinking about how you want your bedroom to feel. 100% linen is a perfect choice for a light, airy, and relaxed space. For a crisp, clean hotel aesthetic, opt for our 200-thread-count bedding. If you love a touch of luxury and a silky feel, our sateen duvet covers are for you.
