Brushed Cotton Bedding

It’s also a perfect bedding material for warmth, as the brushed fibres trap heat. Don’t worry about overheating, though, as cotton is famously breathable and moisture-wicking to give you the best of both worlds. 

The benefits don’t stop there, either. The brushing process actually strengthens the fibres of our flannelette bedding, so it’s durable and long-lasting to give you snug slumbers for nights to come.

Thanks to their heat-trapping abilities, our brushed cotton bedding sets are utter bliss in winter, keeping you toasty as can be. Don’t be so quick to store them away in spring and autumn though, as brushed cotton is also breathable so the air will circulate to keep you at the absolute comfiest temperature.

Brushed cotton will be a little more prone to pilling than other 100% cotton fabrics.

Pilling occurs when loose fibres on the surface of the fabric become tangled and form small balls or pills. The surface of brushed cotton has more loose fibres because of the brushing process, so it's only normal for some pilling to happen. 

However, there are some steps you can take to reduce pilling: follow the care instructions and avoid rough handling that can cause excessive friction. While some initial pilling may occur with brushed cotton, it tends to lessen over time as the loose fibres are gradually removed.

Brushed cotton should be washed on a slightly gentler cycle than other cotton products. The cycle you use for wool or synthetics is perfect.

To keep fibres as fluffy as possible, turn your brushed cotton bedding sets inside out before washing. As with all of our cotton bedding, a mild 40C is perfect.

You can absolutely tumble dry your brushed cotton bedding. Just be sure to do so on a low heat to avoid any shrinking or pilling. If you don’t have a tumble dryer, line drying in a gentle breeze is also super for softness.
