Winter Pillow FAQs

What makes a pillow a 'winter' pillow?

While a pillow's job is comfort and support year-round, a 'winter' pillow is about creating a feeling of plushness. In winter, we love to use more pillows to make the bed look extra full and inviting. Some natural fillings, like wool, also have fantastic temperature-regulating properties, adding to the overall warmth of your bed.

How many pillows should I have on my bed in winter?

We say the more, the merrier. For a genuinely luxurious and inviting look, we recommend four standard pillows on a double bed or larger. This allows you to have two for sleeping and two propped up behind them for a lovely, hotel-style look. It also makes reading in bed much more comfortable on a dark evening.

What's the best pillow for a side sleeper?

Side sleepers generally need a firmer, deeper pillow to properly support the head and neck, ensuring correct spinal alignment. A pillow with a firm filling, like feathers, or a specially designed supportive core, is usually the best choice to prevent waking up with a stiff neck.

How often should I change my pillows?

It’s a good idea to refresh your pillows every one or two years. Over time, they can lose their plumpness and support. A simple test is to fold your pillow in half – if it doesn’t spring back into shape, it’s probably time for a new one.
