Get Cosy with Cushions and Throws

We believe you can never have too many pillows on your bed and the same goes for cushions... and throws!

Whilst some people aren't sure about the notion of removing all the cushions on your bed before you can get in, we say "layering up cushions and throws only make the bed more inviting, giving it an added feeling of luxury. Who wouldn't want to climb into a snuggly nest of a bed?"

Cushions and bed throws give your room a touch of your personality, make it feel even comfier and can be the finishing touch to pull together your bedroom style. Here's a couple of our tips for topping your bed.

Cushions and Throws Layered on a Bed

How many cushions should you have?

How long is a piece of string? We believe you can never have too many in your collection. The more you have, the more often you can mix up the way you style them. Soft furnishings let you switch up your bedroom style in an instant.

If you love the look of a formal, well presented bed then keep things simple. Your bed should have four standard pillows, two big square pillows and a cushion in an accent colour or with a pattern. If you're looking for inspiration on how to style your bed, read our guide to making the perfect bed.

If you prefer a more relaxed looking bed (or don't have a spare second in the morning for formality), then a selection of three or four cushions bundled on the bed will make it the focal point of the room.

Add colour with cushions and throws

If you tend to steer away from bold colours, adding some cushions and a throw to your bed is quickest way to inject a bit of colour.

Soft furnishings are the perfect solution for renters too. If you're not allowed to paint the walls, a couple of cushions and a throw let you easily add a splash of colour.

Think about texture and pattern

Feel like your bedroom is still missing something? It might be crying out for some pattern or something to add a little texture. Adding in cushions and throws with different fabrics adds some depth to your bedroom design. Chunky knits and soft woolen accessories give your room an extra cosy touch.

Layering Textures and Patterns

Use them around the house

Cushions and throws shouldn't just be restricted to your bedroom. Perhaps you have a little reading nook (lucky you!), that needs a softer touch, or your sofa is looking lackluster with no accessories.

Cushions on the sofa make evenings, winding down and ready for bed, that little more comfortable. Don't forget about throws either... wrapping up under a throw on the sofa before bed is bliss.
