Iron your linen placemats while they’re still slightly damp for the best results. Start by ironing the underside first, and if you’re working with lighter-coloured placemats, flip them over and give the front a quick press, too, for a crisp, flawless finish.

If you have any lovely monogramming or embroidery on your placemat, this should be ironed face down on a towel to protect the detailing.
