Well, the great thing about the Secret Linen Store, is that because we have lots of different styles of bedding, we get to meet people with all sorts of unique styles in their homes. I've had the pleasure of meeting Kimberly Duran. She invites her readers into her eclectic and glamourous home through her blog, Swoon Worthy. She also has our Luxury White Bedding, and you can see what she has to say about it here. We love her style, thanks Kimberly for taking part.
Describe your blog in 3 words?
Eclectic. Boho. Glam. ;)
What’s the best thing about what you do?
While I work with lots of different retailers both writing for other websites and in collaborations with companies on my own blog, I love having the freedom to set my own hours and be my own boss. There’s a lot of scope for creativity in that and it means while I still have deadlines and responsibilities, it’s really about furthering my own blog and my brand and creating something that’s successful that I built myself – it’s quite empowering!
What’s your next big interior challenge?
Deciding on a new colour/direction for the dining room and tying it into the kitchen which it’s open to. I love so many different things that trying to nail it down has been a bit of a nightmare! I do love a good challenge however, so I’m sure it’ll work itself out eventually – at least that’s what I’m telling myself!
If you could put your bed anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
Oooh probably somewhere in a little hut near the beach. I love the sound of waves, and waking up to a sun rise on the water is just a dream. I’m thinking somewhere like Bali perhaps – beautiful and warm with crystal blue waters in a hut on sticks so it’s right over the water – yes please.
Are you all about long lie ins or up at the lark?
I wish I could say lie ins but I have 2 cats and a dog that don’t let me when they are hungry first thing! So I’m going to have to say up at the lark. I do like starting my day early however when it’s quiet with a cup of coffee and getting loads done before noon.
Instagram or Twitter?
It’s got to be Instagram simply for how immediately visual it is – it’s really inspiring following so many talented people. But I do also like Twitter for its immediacy.
What's on your bed today?
A white duvet set and a beautiful blue woven throw that I just pulled out as the nights are starting to get chilly! It’s not been made however as there’s a certain little Bengal cat who has made herself at home under the duvet and I don’t have the heart to move her.
Do you wear a nightdress, pj's, or nothing?
Who would you invite to your dream midnight feast? dead / alive/ animal?
Dolly Parton. I think she’s inspiring, smart and funny and I bet she’d have some amazing stories to tell.
How do you like your eggs?
Sunny side up with a side of sweet potato hash, kale, chopped bacon and fresh tomatoes.
Cleansheet Friday or clean sheet Sunday? (Harriet and I disagree)
Always Sundays! I wish I could do it on Fridays but I’m usually too tired/can’t be bothered!
Flat sheet or fitted sheet?
Both! I love a flat top sheet. I tried to get used to not using one when I moved to the UK but I just couldn’t. I think it must be an American thing because when I moved here, no one had them and I was shocked. I always use a top sheet under my duvet, it feels more luxurious to me with that extra layer.
Do you have a bedtime ritual, can you share it with us?
I wash my face and moisturise and then brush my teeth. I’ll spend about 15 minutes looking at my phone, checking emails and social media (I know, terrible habit) before retiring for the night!
Your off for a weekend camping.. What one luxury would you take from your bedroom?
Oh I don’t do camping. Sleeping outdoors is what people did before they discovered houses!! But if I had to choose something, it’d probably be my fluffy goose feather and down pillows!
Tell us a secret?
I spend far too much money on makeup. Don’t tell my boyfriend.
Who should Molly meet next?
Bianca from French for Pineapple
