July Secret Sevens

July-5

What a soggy month it's been. After the glorious start to Summer, we were sure we'd be sleeping under just sheets for the next couple of months, but the British summer had other plans.

Even with all the wet weather, we've still been out and about, exploring new places, going to festivals and planning adventures for the summer...

Shooting

This month we got to do one of our favourite things. Take photographs of some beautiful new bed linen (coming very soon). Although this photoshoot was a bumper one... we set a whole day aside to take photographs of something brand new (not bed linen, can you guess what it is?). Shooting new things did have us feeling a little nervous, but after the first shot (and a slice or two of carrot cake) everything came together perfectly.

We even found a second to re-shoot some of our favourite bed linens in new bedrooms... what do you think of this lovely shot of our Relaxed Denim Natural Linen?

Watching

We've been gripped (as everyone has) to Top of The Lake: China Girl. This is the second season for Top of The Lake, so make sure you've enjoyed season one first!

Rather than New Zealand, this season is set is sultry Sydney. Directed by Jane Campion, it's beautifully shot, with amazing acting and is every bit as gripping as the first season. Both seasons are available on iPlayer now.

Following

We recently stumbled across the Instagram account of the Colour Factory. It's a new pop up that's soon to be opening its doors in sunny San Francisco. The interactive experience looks right up our street... bundles of colour, fun and general silliness. To brighten your day just follow their feed.

We're getting ever closer to accidentally booking flights just so we can visit... all fingers and toes crossed that maybe one day they'll just happen to pop up a little closer to home!

Wearing

Molly's been raving about one pair of shoes all month long...

"I have a bad foot. It's getting better, but the time came when I had to buy myself some "comfortable, supportive summer sandals" (am I showing my age?). I love flat leather sandals, in fact I think I've collected enough to last me the next 10 years... but they might just be too flat, with no support and now I just can't wear them. I had approximately 4.5 minutes to find a sensible pair and very quickly decided on a pair of Birkenstock EVA shoes, in the loveliest dark shade of green. Well... that was 3 weeks ago and they haven't left my feet since. They are the most comfortable and light shoes I have ever tried. They look great with everything, and I've even worn them in the sea. The best looking "sensible" shoe I've ever seen... now I'm off to buy the red ones!"

Do you ever find yourself slipping into a breakfast rut?

As we're always on the lookout for lovely, yummy breakfast inspiration, the Spoon Cereals Instagram account is our Sunday morning first port of call. Finally, we've got our hands on a copy of their cookbook and it's brilliant. Breakfast inspiration to last a lifetime!

Planning

It's that time of the year when we're all starting to chit chat about our summer holidays. Where shall we go, should we even bother, perhaps this year we'll holiday at home?

Molly's just booked her trip for a week away on the beautiful Île de Ré and now we're all trying to find somewhere equally as lovely to escape to later in the year.

Perhaps Iceland... this review from Angloyankophile about her hideaway in the hills has almost convinced us.

We're in need of a little more inspiration before booking, so let us know if you've been somewhere super you think we need to add to our list!

Visiting

Molly took a long weekend off this month to spend some time dancing around in fields...

"I packed up my car and set off to camp and play at Latitude Festival with my daughter, a friend and her daughter. It was her first ever festival, so before we set off she rolled around in glitter to make sure she'd fit in! It was so much fun, great for families with kids, well organised, well-staffed and there was even a shower queue coordinator! The drinks service organised by Oxfam was the icing on the cake... they'd take your order, and somehow through the mayhem bring you back your drinks! Brilliant.

Our schedule was planned by two 10 year olds, so I discovered a lot of new bands! I'm booking for next year as soon as tickets come out! You should too!"

We'd love to hear your suggestions for what we should be reading, where we should be visiting or tell us if you've seen something that's tickled your fancy!
