We're big chocolate eaters here at Secret Linen Store, so when we realised that Montezuma’s Chocolates were just a short drive away, we knew we had to meet them.
With Easter on the way, we couldn't have met at a better time. To celebrate our new friendship, we're giving one lucky person a new set of bedding and a hamper brimming with chocolate goodies (more on that below). We're also giving everyone who orders in March an amazing discount for their online store.
Founders of Montezuma's, Helen and Simon Pattinson, even have their very own chocolate cookbook, filled with chocolaty goodness. Here's a little snippet of what you can expect, something scrummy you can whip up for breakfast...
Time to prepare: 20 minutes
Time to cook: 45 minutes
Time to cool: 90 minutes
Makes 15 - 25 (depending on how big you like you breakfast!)
You will need
250g Montezuma’s Creamy White Chocolate
50g unsalted butter (save your wrapper for greasing)
100g almonds or hazelnuts, coarsely chopped
100g macadamia nuts, coarsely chopped
100g desiccated coconut
100g dried apricots, coarsely chopped
100g raisins or sultanas
50g plain flour (plus a sprinkle for dusting)
Preheat your oven to 180ºC/gas mark 4. Grease a 10 x 25cm baking tray add a dusting of flour and then line it with parchment paper.
Melt your chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl over a pan of water that has been boiled and is now off the heat and has cooled for around 5 minutes. You have to be extra careful not to burn white chocolate and this process (although may take a little longer) will help avoid this. Stir occasionally until smooth.
Gently heat the honey in a small pan until it becomes runny.
Mix the almonds/hazelnuts, macadamias, coconut, apricots, raisins/sultanas and flour in a large bowl. Add the chocolate mixture and the honey. Stir well.
Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin and bake for approximately 40–45 minutes, until golden.
Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 90 minutes before cutting.
Why not mix things up...
Try varying the dried fruits or replacing the white chocolate with milk or dark chocolate for a completely different flavour.
We're giving away a great big hamper of Montezuma's chocolates and a brand new set of Secret Linen Store bedding. Toddle off to their website to have a chance to snap it up...
