Teal Bedroom Ideas

Teasels Teal Bedding

One minute you barely notice it, the next it’s everywhere; colours can swing in and out of style faster than a fashion model riding Miley Cyrus’ wrecking ball! We get asked for Teal bedroom ideas a lot, and fortunately, it's a colour we know and love.

Back in January we revealed that Pantone’s colour of 2015 was Marsala (or for your reference – Pantone 18-1438), but we think there’s a rival to that crown this year. We are, of course, talking about teal.

Taking all of the best qualities of blue and green, teal is a colour with a rich history. It was used heavily throughout the Victorian era in 19th century, particularly for bathroom and kitchen tiles. But now it has crept into our bedrooms, too.

Teal duvet covers, pillowcases, fitted sheets and flat sheets; yep, teal bedding sets are selling like hot cakes from linen stores in 2015 – heck, Teasels Teal is our best seller! But why? What’s driving the sudden love among proud homeowners?

It's always been lurking

Teal might never have been named colour of the year, but if you look back at the winners from 2001 to 2011, it has basically been represented three times: Aqua Sky in 2003, Blue Turquoise in 2005, and Turquoise in 2010. Really, it’s always been lurking around UK households, so it comes as no surprise that it has become all the rage now.

From sofas and throws painted walls and carpets, there’s just something about this colour that makes us want it present in our homes. It’s calming and natural, with a clear association with the ocean and the tropics. It can also be weird and eclectic, without ever really losing a traditional feel. Quiet; loud; refreshing; soothing – this colour is everything at once.

It finds a way to fit in

While Teasles Teal bedding sets are ever so popular, it also works well to compliment other more prominent colours in your home. Whether you use it solely for cushion covers to sit on your luxury white bed linen, or you want to fully accentuate the beauty of a gold mirror hanging on the wall, teal brings out the best in other colours. It always finds a way to fit in.

Of course, some colours work better with teal than others. Aside from the aforementioned gold, what else works? Here are a few recommendations:

Colours to match with teal

So whether you’re in the market for some new cotton bedding sets, or you’re just looking for a throw or cushion cover to compliment your white bed linen, we think teal is the way to go!
