Each year, Pantone release the colour of the year for us to use, be inspired by and to lead the way for our products and development for the year. Trends are predicted and followed to create fashions and excitement around the world. Colour is always very important to us, and the starting point for any collection...
The colour of the year 2015 is Marsala, which for your reference is, Pantone 18-1438
'A naturally robust and earthy wine red, Marsala enriches our minds, bodies and souls.'
Marsala is a wine produced in the region surrounding the Italian city of Marsala in Sicily. So what do we think about it being named as this years colour ? and how are we going to play with it?.
I'm not sure. I didn't like it at all until I started looking...Now i'm warming to it, and thinking that it might be the perfect colour for my next nail varnish purchase. I'm sharing some images that I have found, which I think are stunning. It's such a rich colour, bold and beautiful when it appears in nature.
However, I have only found this one image, of its use successfully in interiors? And even then, i'm not sure I could live with this for long.
So, my conclusion is, it's lovely, use it for your nails and wear something Marsala this year...But on the bed linen front, I think we will stay away. I'm off to Portugal this week to work on our summer collection and I'm going to give Marsala a go. I will be sure to share my findings with you. Perhaps some accents in cushions and throws?
Marsala might be best kept for drinking and cooking. Instead of wearing it, try this lovely looking poached pear recipe by Delia?
What do you think about the Pantone colour of the year 2015? I'd love to know.
Tag us in to your Marsala findings.
